Cornelius sits right on Lake Norman in north Mecklenburg County, about 20 miles north of Charlotte. I-77 crosses the middle of town, and Exit 28 puts you on Catawba Avenue. NC 115 runs through it as Main Street.
The town started in 1893 around a cotton mill and took its name from Joseph B. Cornelius, the mill's main stockholder. When Duke Power dammed the Catawba in 1963 and made the lake, Cornelius gained about 70 miles of lakeside land.
Then it grew fast. It had 2,581 people in 1990 and 31,412 in 2020.
Cornelius is a 1990s and 2000s town. More than half of its homes, 57%, went up between 1990 and 2009, and the median home was built in 2002. They came after laminate's long run: solid surface took it on in the 1980s, and granite got cheaper in the 1990s and moved into more kitchens. If your top is original, it has been there about 20 years or more.

We fabricate your countertops and install them ourselves.
Old top out, new top in, and a plumber hooks everything back up in the afternoon.
